Brong Ahafo NPP Officers dump Blay

Ghana News-The constituency officers of the Brong Ahafo Branch of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) have sharply disassociated themselves from a purported release making rounds that their constituency executives have endorsed Freddy Blay, an aspiring national chairman.

In a release signed and copied to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper, the officers said no executive have the right to endorse the said candidate.

They also denied endorsing any of the aspirants individually as officers, noting that all the delegates are adults and would vote for their choices in Koforidua next week.

According to the group, it would be unwise for their executives to do so knowing very well those who are contesting for the national position are all party people.

REACTION:

According to the group, there had been series of stories emanating from various news portals indicating they their constituency executives had endorsed the said candidate.

This, they observe became a worry since no meeting had been held to take such a decision en bloc.

The Brong Ahafo Branch of the NPP, they noted are careful not to do anything as to portray their preference for any of the contesting candidates.

The party’s unity, they mentioned is of paramount interest than to seek to become divisive or selective as to those they would want to win or endorse at the upcoming polls.

DECISION:

The officers advised those peddling such falsehoods or those executives wanting to push such agenda to desist henceforth and rather engage in positive campaign for their respective candidates.

The BA NPP, they insisted will vote for candidates of their choice and will do so individually since each of them has his or her own preferences.

Democracy, they noted is something the branch cherishes and that is why they as officers do not even meet to discuss who and who the executives should vote for when the party converge at Koforidua for the national conference.

The statement signed by over 100 officers and TESCON members ends by saying that it is convinced that at the end of the delegate conference nothing but a winnable team will be elected to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years and help the NPP retain power in 2020.
