Atwima Nwabiagya North sad about reduction of girl-child school enrollment at SHS

Ghana Gender News-The Coordinator of Girl Child Education in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District; Mrs. Charity Donkor has revealed that research findings available to her outfit shows that about 93% of basic school enrollment in the district comprises girls. She however says the figure sharply declines to 50% at the Senior High School level; a situation she describes as very bad.

She was speaking at an event held in the district to encourage girl child education.

Atwima Nwabiagya North District Chief Executive, Hon. Rebecca Yeboah used the opportunity to charge all and sundry to value girl child education.

She says the nation cannot progress without the input of women.

Madam Yeboah, who was speaking at a media engagement charged parents, teachers and other key stakeholders in society to champion the safety and rights of the girl child.

“Raising a child is not an easy task but raising a girl child is particularly demanding and requires extra caution” she explained.

She says the country can record significant positive changes in the near future if parents strive to educate the female children.

She cautioned sternly against child marriages and explained that it hinders the capabilities of the female child being married off.
