Asante-Akyem NPP Chairman assaults journalist

The Asante-Akyem North Constituency Chairman for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Sampson Agyei has rained unprintable insults on a Kumasi based journalist, Oheneba Nana Asiedu, morning show host at FOX FM.

The Chairman, who despite the opportunity given to him by the host to answer for allegations that he was conniving with the current MP for the area to deny some people the chance of getting their names on the NPP delegates list rather flared up by calling the host a ‘fool’.

Speaking on top of his voice amidst threats on the Show host, Mr Agyei wondered why he was being pushed to answer to allegations that have been ‘foolishly’ put together by some persons in the constituency.

In a full blown foul language spree, the embattled chairman asked why the host was fuelling the allegations by asking ‘foolish and unintelligent questions’.

REACTION:
Sounding bewildered by the unwarranted attacks on his person, Ohene Asiedu asked why the Chairman would turn the barrel of the gun at him rather than answering to the allegations directly.

The host mentioned that the question he was asking was rather in a petition that had been drawn up some disgruntled party people in the Asante Akyem North constituency.

Oheneba Asiedu, struggling to come to terms with the insults on his person wondered how the NPP could elect such an intolerant person as Chairman.

Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper, the show host said ‘my brother I pity Nana Akufo-Addo because if he has someone as Sampson Agyei as constituency chair who can insult a media man on live radio then you can imagine how he will treat ordinary people in the Asante-Akyem constituency’.

REVELATIONS:
Meanwhile, investigations conducted by this reporter at the Asante-Akyem constituency points to a grand scheme by the embattled chairman and the incumbent MP, Andy Appiah Kubi to deny people they perceive as opponents the chance to have their names on the new delegates list which is being compiled across the country.

The agenda, according to our sources is to ensure all persons who were formally allied to Kwadwo Baah Agyeman, former MP for the area are denied the opportunity to register as delegates.

This plot, our sources indicate is to stop the former MP from unseating the incumbent MP who the petitioners feel is a liability to the NPP party.

Speaking with apprehension to this reporter, Godwin Kwao, a polling station executive narrated how he and his coordinator at the Collins Senior High School, Mr Oppong Kyekyeku have since been denied the opportunity to get their names on the compiled album of the constituency.

According to him, the constituency chairman and his cohorts rather than getting the registration forms to polling station executives to carry out the compilation have strangely kept all the forms and have been registering their favorites at odd times in the day at the party office and the Chairman’s home.

At the time of filing this story neither the regional or national executives had acted on the petition the group in Asante Akyem had sent.

The petitioners, according to a member will be meeting by midday today and discuss the next action to take.
