Ama Pomaa Boateng leads Parliament’s ICT committee to Australia’s parliament

Ghana Parliament News-Ghana’s parliament has set her sights on ensuring that occurrences in the august house reach constituents on a daily basis.

To this end, efforts are being made to further build the ICT capacity of parliamentarians and staff of Ghana’s parliament.

As one of the measures being embarked on, a 5-member delegation from parliament is currently in Australia for a 4-day ICT study tour with the Australian Parliament.

The delegation, led by MP for Ashanti Juaben; Ama Pomaa Boateng, also comprises MP for Ho West; Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, Principal Assistant Clerk of Parliament and Advisor on Procedural, Technical and Legal Matters in Parliament; Ebenezer Ahuma Djietror, Director of ICT-Ghana Parliamentary Service; Ms. Shirley-Ann Fiagome and Assistant ICT Officer; Ernest Taanu Berrick.

Leader of the delegation; Ama Pomaa Boateng believes the tour will strengthen collaboration between the two countries and open up a platform for sharing ideas on various issues of parliamentary concern.

They will study other subjects including cyber security, e-petitions, Hansard technology, parl info and library systems.

Currently, Parliamentary proceedings are streamed live on internet and on Facebook. Parliament however believes a lot more can be done to spread parliamentary coverage to a wider spectrum of Ghanaians.

MP for Ashanti Juaben believes this, when done will also enhance monitoring and accountability to constituents.

The delegation is expected back home on 15th August, 2018.
