3 incumbents, 1 former MP file nominations on Val’s day

Three incumbent Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Ashanti Region file their nomination forms at the NPP party offices tomorrow, the 14th of February, 2020.

Madam Patricia Appiagyei of Asokwa, Mr Collins Owusu Amankwah of Manhyia North and Mr Kennedy Kwasi Kankam of Nhyiaeso chose the Valentine’s Day to fully express their intents of contesting again for the seats they currently occupy.

Also following the steps of the incumbents in filing on same Friday is the flamboyant National Sports Authority (NSA) Board Chairman, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang who stakes a claim to the seat he lost in the 2015 primaries of the NPP in Asante Akyem North.

Even though these four personalities are the ones publicly known to be filing on Friday, at the time of filing this report information that had be gleaned by the Ghanaian Observer pointed to many other aspirants filing on same day of Friday.

ASOKWA:

In the Asokwa constituency, Madam Patricia Appiagyei, a two-time incumbent MP and Deputy Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI) would be filing to seek endorsement from party delegates to attempt a third time of representing the party at the parliamentary polls later in December 2020.

Sources tell this reporter that the calm-mannered MP plans to lead a procession of party faithful from her house in Asokwa to the party’s office at Ahensan Bonsuom.

As at last night some delegates and fanatics of the party had planned to use motor bikes to lead the procession to the party’s office to accompany the MP to file her nomination.

Beneficiaries of the NABco module and other party members who got their employment through the benevolence of the MP also plan to join the woman they have termed ‘’Sompahemaa’’ to file.

MANHYIA-NORTH:

In the Manhyia North Constituency, the youthful Collins Owusu Amankwah who doubles as Chairman of the Government Assurances Committee in Parliament would be filing in a bid to get the opportunity to represent the NPP in a third time as candidate in the December 7th parliamentary elections.

Scores of delegates and sympathizers, a source revealed to this reporter plan to storm the Agyeboat Center where the MP would file his nomination papers.

A medical screening exercise, our source disclosed would also be carried out for delegates who would throng the center.

Popularly called Sir Randy, the affable legislator is expected to address delegates at the end of the process.

ASANTE AKYEM NORTH:

Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, the media friendly NSA Boss would in the Asante Akyem North constituency attempt a return to Parliament as he files his nomination on Friday as he aims at getting the right to represent the NPP in Parliament in the stead of the incumbent, Andy Appiah Kubi.

Interestingly, the incumbent took the seat he occupies from the former in an election observers termed as a highly acrimonious one in 2015.

Having taking time to work in the constituency every week despite his heavy schedule, Mr Baah Agyemang is tipped to upstage Mr Appiah Kubi, a Deputy Railways Minister in the upcoming polls.

Speaking succinctly to this reporter, the confident NSA boss said the choice of Vals Day to file his nomination is born out of the love he has for the people of Asante Akyem North, adding his bid is to seek for development for the deprived community.
