Techiman vehicle thief gets 15 years

ghana policeA circuit court in Techiman has sentenced one Alhassan Osman to fiften years’ jail term for stealing a vehicle.

The unemployed 26 year old and his two accomplices now at large connived to steal a vehicle belonging to a Techiman based businessman.

Techiman Municipal Police Command told the court presided by His Honour Daniel Obeng the accused resided in three different places including Techiman.

The complainant on September 23 this year reported his missing Kia RhinoTruck registration number AW 3318-13 to police for investigations.

The suspect was later arrested at Makango in the Northern Region and admitted having stolen the vehicle with two other persons (names witheld).

The accussed pleaded guity to the charges of stealing contrary to 124(1) of the criminal offense Act 1960.

The vehicle has been released to the owner while the two are on police wanted list for possible prosecution.

Vehicular theft is on the rise in the municipality and Police officers in the area have vowed to arrest and prosecute offenders.
