Step aside and allow for investigations-Edmund Kyei urges EC Boss

The Communications Member of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Mr Edmund Kyei has renewed calls on the Electoral Commission head, Mrs Charlotte Osei to step aside to allow for full scale investigation into matters of corruption leveled against her and her deputies.

According to the NPP man, this will allow the investigative body to have a free hand to thoroughly scrutinize and authenticate the veracity of the allegations being thrown about by the feuding parties.

Speaking to this reporter last Wednesday, Mr Kyei, an aspiring first vice-chair of the Asokwa NPP stressed the urgency of the matter at the EC, adding the continuous show of power and mudslinging has a bearing on the people of Ghana.

The Communications Member therefore tasked Mrs Osei to lead the way by stepping aside so that the petition as signed by the EC Workers Union can be painstakingly investigated.

INTEGRITY:
Sounding worried, Mr Kyei disclosed the ongoing corruption allegations has affected the image of the Electoral Commission.

Currently, the aspiring vice-chair indicated the integrity of the Commission and its heads are under immense question.

This, he mentioned has a far reaching consequence on the work of the Commission as well as the personalities involved.

Mr Kyei, therefore, reiterated the call on the EC boss as well as the two deputies, Mrs Georgina Opoku Amankwah and Mr Amadu Sulley to show the way clear by stepping aside to ensure all issues bordering on corruption are investigated.

PRESIDENCY:
Meanwhile, Mr Kyei has commended the President for the swift manner he has responded to the petition forwarded to the presidency by the EC Union workers.

According to him, the decision to ask the Chief Justice to investigate into matters at the EC as spelt out by the petition is in order.

This, he insisted will bring a lasting solution to the mudslinging currently ongoing between the three protagonists.

He prayed all issues about corruption and malfeasance can be dealt with in a manner that will stem future occurrence at the EC
