“Respectfully step aside for another to carry on”-Okyem Aboagye to Wontumi

Former Member of Parliament for Bantama; Hon. Daniel Okyem Aboagye has advised Ashanti Regional Chair of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to “respectfully” step aside for others to take over.

Hon. Okyem Aboagye who was making a submission on Akoma FM on Monday morning said the current Chairman; Bernard Antwi Boasiako who is also known as Chairman Wontumi has worked hard to bring the party to power from opposition and then into another term. He explained that the party however needs change and said it was time someone else carried the mantle from Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako.

“This is my personal opinion, I hope Chairman will listen to my advise. Respectfully, he should step aside. He has worked hard. In 2016, we were in opposition when he took over and has worked hard till now. As we move forward, I believe the Ashanti region needs a change. He has done the best he can do. I support change but we all have to decide who will go next” he opined.

Many members and sympathizers of the NPP in the Ashanti region rawgist.com spoke to were of the same view. They cited different reasons including his unguarded utterances, failed promises and dwindling fortunes of the NPP in the region.
