ghana policeThe Police Motor Traffic Department of the Ghana Police Service (MTTD) has cautioned political parties and corporate entities against mounting advertising bill boards at unauthorized locations along roads such as on the pedestrian walkways and intersections.

According to the MTTD these entities in collaboration with the various district, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies are creating a mess on our roads by mounting outdoor advertisements at unauthorized places along the road corridors.

Head of Research and Education at MTTD,ASP Alexander Obeng tells LIVE FM the law bans any form of advertisement within a certain range in the road corridor.

He says the bill boards contribute to accidents and hopes a taskforce set up to remove these bill boards will not be resisted by those who mount them.

DSP Alexander Obeng adds that Police will proceed to court to have the bill boards removed when it becomes necessary.

The Police is also cautioning the district, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies to stop issuing permits for outdoor bill boards since they do not have the mandate to issue such permits.
