OYA demo postponed, “bloodthirsty” NPP fingered

NDCPro-NDC group; Organised youth of Ashanti Tuesday accused the New Patriotic Party led by their Ashanti regional chairman of being behind their decision to call off the much talked about “one thousand March for Mahama”.

The group which was slated to demonstrate Tuesday 24th February, 2015, called off the demonstration, replacing it with a press conference instead.

Organizing Secretary of the group, Vincent Okyere Kwabena Agyapong who addressed the conference revealed that the planned demonstration was aimed at “lauding President Mahama and his government for the avalanche of developmental projects and interventions bestowed on Ashanti region.”

He explained however that they were forced to postpone the demonstration because the Pro-NPP Movement for Change as well as Ashanti NPP chair, Bernard Antwi-Bossiako was beating war drums after the police stopped their demonstration in favour of the pro-Mahama march.

“We initially opted to ignore the intelligence and treat it as empty threats. But the actions of the regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako confirms our intelligence on the planned disruption of the solidarity March…..What shall it profit the group if we risk the lives of our members and sympathizers in a rather intended peaceful March.”

The group tells rawgist.com it is regrouping and will return with a blast.
