NEDCo cautions customers against fraudsters who request payments through Momo
The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) says fraudsters have succeeded recently in duping unsuspecting customers of significant amounts of money.
They say the fraudsters who have found a way into their database as well as that of other State institutions call their customers some of who have applied for electricity meters or other services and demand payments via Mobile Money only to find out later their payments went into fraudulent hands.
The company is therefore asking clients to avoid paying money electronically in response to unknown callers who reach them demanding payment for any of their services.
The Northern Electricity Distribution Company’s Customer Service Officer for the Techiman Operational Area; Mr. Ntelenyi Bilenman explained to the media that NEDCo does not receive payments through MoMo. He also stressed the need for clients to demand receipts for all payments made.
He continued that the Management of NEDCo will collaborate with the State Security Agencies and the Telecommunication Companies to fish out these criminals and bring them to face the laws of Ghana but was quick to stress the need for caution on the part of clients.
