National Service Persons campaign for increased local consumption of cocoa

National Service Personnel working with COCOBOD are undertaking a campaign dubbed the 2019 Cocoa Consumption Campaign to encourage increased local consumption of cocoa.

They explain that there is a lot of health benefits in consuming cocoa and cocoa products which Ghanaians should know to encourage them to make good use of the produce.

The the maiden edition of the campaign took place last year in Accra. This year, the Ashanti region has been added to the campaign.

Speaking on the morning show of Kumasi-based Fox FM, staff of COCOBOD encouraged Ghanaians to uphold and utilize cocoa for a healthy life. They say it helps with blood circulation, high blood pressure, cholesterol issues, sexual health, skin care amongst others. The campaigners believe that local consumption of cocoa will have a net positive effect on the health of the country.

“Why do you think the white man comes to buy our cocoa at a premium if it was not special?” they quizzed and explained that Europeans and other foreign countries buy our cocoa mainly for the health benefits.

Kwame Opoku Adu Gyamfi; the President of National Service personnel working at COCOBOD was grateful that the initiative which was proposed last year has received support from the CEO and the entire COCOBOD and is now an ongoing campaign.
