Cocoa Rehabilitation Program: COCOBOD provides 1,223 motorized slashers & pruners to Sefwi Bekwai

COCOBOD procured 1,223 motorized slashers and pruners for farmers within the Sefwi Bekwai Cocoa district.

The Cocoa Health and Extension Division district manager for the area; Frank Amamoo Antwi who revealed this also stated that the equipment costing GHC6,115,000 is supposed to support the cocoa swollen shoot disease rehabilitation program in the district.

He also announced that COCOBOD was set to employ 6,063 youth to prune every cocoa farm,do lining and pegging and also weed every farm they will cut and replant this year; a move that is expected to improve yield and provide gainful employment for the youth of the area.

He brought this to bare during the official inaugural ceremony of Adjakaamanso cocoa farmers cooperative by COCOBOD Sefwi Bekwai district at Adjakaamanso. 

The Chief farmer for Adjakaamanso operational area, Nana Twumasi lauded government and COCOBOD and recounted some benefits they have gained since they came together as a cooperative .

He also asked government to let them know if the digital weighing scales they are bringing to them are scale free or not because purchasing clerks have cheated them for quite a long time and would not tolerate that again.

Hon Patrick Hockson Amponteng PH DCE, Wasa Amenfi Central district in his speech urged the leaders of the cooperatives to be truthful to their members in all their dealings to ensure the sustainability of the cooperatives since they can’t have asses to any government and COCOBOD assistance individually without the group.
