Nana Addo given 3-day ultimatum to unite NPP

nana-addo-afoko-agyepongA member of the communications team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Agbesi Nutsu has given the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) a three – day ultimatum to unite the party.

According to him, Nana Akufo – Addo failed to symbolically unite the beleaguered national chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong to the party when he called a press conference last week.

There are calls for Afoko and Agyepong to resign from their respective positions following the events that culminated in the killing of the party’s Upper East regional chairman- Adams Mahama- by some unknown assailants.

Some party members have accused them of masterminding the acid attack that led to Mr. Mahama’s death.

Already, seven regional branches of the party have passed a vote of no confidence in them. The minority in Parliament has also appealed to them to step aside.

They were ‘banned’ from entering the headquarters by youthful supporters who describe themselves as ‘Invisible Forces’.

Nana Akufo-Addo has since called for calm and urged all aggrieved supporters to use the appropriate channels to resolve their grievances.

He also directed that the two national executives be allowed into their offices, but the two have since not been to their offices to work.

Agbesi Nutsu claims this is a sign the NPP flagbearer has leadership deficits since he has failed to unite his party.

He has therefore given Nana Addo a three–day ultimatum to use the same channel he used in organizing the previous press conference to organize another press briefing and address the nation with the two executives by his side.

“Nana Addo had the opportunity to bring Afoko and Agyepong together to truly show that he is in for business, but he never did that. We need peace in the country and so he should act fast in organizing a press conference to bring the two together” he stated on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem Wednesday.
