NAGRAT Directs members to lay down tools as nationwide strike begins

strikeThe National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has directed its members across the country to lay down their tool as the associations begins a nationwide strike.

The strike, according to NAGRAT was necessitated by the frustrations teacher unions are going through in trying to get their issues resolved.

The teachers are demanding among others payment of incremental credit arrears dating back to 2011.The teachers are also not happy with refusal by government to remit teachers’ pension to the Ghana Education Service trustees to manage as well as the nonpayment of transfer grants.

They are also displeased with the staff rationalization program currently ongoing in the Ghana Education Service.

NAGRAT Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Rene Senyo Kwamikorkor announced the strike at a news conference in Accra .
