MTN ready for its biggest blood donation exercise in 16 locations

MTN Ghana Foundation has announced that its annual blood donation exercise dubbed “Save a Life” will be held this year on Wednesday the 14th of February 2018 to support in restocking blood banks across the country.

The MTN Ghana Foundation hopes to collect a total of 2,750 pints of blood during this year’s “Save a Life” Blood Donation project. The exercise would be held across the 10 regions of Ghana at the following locations:

Greater Accra- MTN House at Ridge near Vanguard Assurance;
Ashanti – Bantama SDA SHS and KNUST Campus
Volta – Volta Regional Hospital, Ho
Eastern- Manya Krobo SHS, Nnuaso
Central – Mfantsipim SHS, Cape Coast
Western – Tarkwa SHS , Tarkwa, MTN Service Center, Market Circle, Takoradi, Shama Communty Compound
Brong Ahafo – Sunyani Technical University and Techiman Market
Northern – Forecourt of Tamale Regional Library and UDS CAMPUS
Upper East – Navrongo-WAR Memorial Hospital and Bolga Ramsey Park
Upper West – WA UDS Campus, Jirapa District Hospital.

Commenting on the planned event, Robert Kuzoe Senior Manager of the MTN Ghana Foundation said “our blood donation exercise haSs been very impactful”. Through this exercise, MTN Foundation provides the opportunity to encourage voluntary blood donations and to save lives.”

The Foundation is appealing to members of the public to come out in their numbers to express their love on Valentine’s Day by donating a pint of blood to help save a life.

The MTN “Save a Life” project is an annual Valentine’s Day blood donation exercise, organized by the MTN Ghana Foundation which gives MTN staff and other individuals the opportunity to donate blood and stock the National Blood Bank and other regional hospitals. The initiative which started in 2011 was in response to calls made by the National Blood Service for voluntary contributions to replenish critically low stocks of blood.

MTN Ghana Foundation has collected a total of 6,226 pints since the inception of the exercise. In recognition of its efforts, the MTN Ghana Foundation was adjudged the highest corporate blood donor in 2013, second highest corporate donor in 2014 and one of the highest corporate donors in 2015.

MTN Ghana Foundation is committed to brightening lives in the communities across Ghana. The Foundation is hopeful that through the continuous partnership with members of the public, many lives would be saved through the exercise.
