The Chiefs and people of Minti, a farming community in the Bosome Freho District of the Ashanti Region last Friday showed appreciation to Rock-hill Minerals Limited when they received roofing items from the latter.
The donation by the mining company is to enable the community roof the only CHP compound in the area.
Items donated were 20 pieces plywood, ceiling battens, 30 bags of cement and an unspecified amount of cash.
Receiving the items on behalf of the chiefs and people of Minti, Mr Enock Amaniampong, Secretary to the traditional council thanked the Chief Executive Officer of Rock-hill Minerals Limited, Mr E.K Agyemang for the gesture.
“The Minti community is grateful to Rock-hill for the support it has so far advanced to us and we have no doubt that our association would lead to the development of our area”, Mr Amaniampong intimated.
The secretary appealed to other citizens of Minti as well as corporate organisations to come to the aid of the community to put up a proper school infrastructure for the people.
He noted that the current school structure in the community is not proper for academic work.
The facility is dilapidated and anytime it rained the school children have to close and go home, the Secretary disclosed.
School kids, he noted are poorly clothed and fed since the community is a poor one.
“We ask that just as Rock-hill Minerals Limited has been generous to help us build this CHP compound other benevolent citizens and organisations should come to our aid so we can build a proper school infrastructure as well as other needful facilities for the people of Minti”, Mr Amaniampong appealed.
Speaking to this reporter, Mr E.K Agyemang, CEO of Rock-hill said he was happy to be of service to the Minti community.
He noted that the best way to develop a community is to invest into its health system as well as educational infrastructure.
Having developed many communities that he has some concessions, Mr Agyemang promised to do his part to raise the standard of education and living in Minti.
He urged the chiefs to protect persons who have investments in the area so that they may feel secure to work and contribute their quota to the development of Minti.
“It’s important that together we all work to build a better community and as I commit to support the people of Minti I will urge the chiefs and elders to protect the investments some of us are making here”, Mr Agyemang posited.
