Tamale hospital emergency ward has no beds

hospital-no-bedThere is an acute shortage of beds at the Emergency Ward of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, rawgist.com has found.

The Tamale Hospital is a flagship facility serving referral cases from the three Northern Regions including some parts of the Brong Ahafo Region.

When rawgist.com visited the Emergency Ward, patients were seen receiving treatment on the cemented floor outside the rooms.

Mattresses were laid on the floor inside the ward and patients with drips were on it.

According to the CEO of the Hospital, Dr. Akambo Prosper, the hospital patients cannot be turned away because the facility lacks beds especially with emergency cases.

“When emergencies come we are not going to turn them away because we don’t have beds, whatever convenient way we can use to nurse them we will use to nurse them” .
