Minority calls on gov’t to stop the propaganda and pay up NHIA service providers

MatthewOpoku-PrempehThe Minority in Parliament has charged government to resolve all problems bedeviling the National Health Insurance Scheme so that it does not collapse.

This comes as Stakeholders in health meet at a forum to discuss the Health Insurance Scheme.

Healthcare service providers across the country have threatened to withdraw their services to NHIS card bearing members if government fails to pay monies owed them by Friday, October 31st 2014.

Pharmaceutical companies have also threatened to suspend drug supplies to NHIS heath facilities over nonpayment for supplies dating as far back as August 2013.

Speaking to Jimaima chime of LIVE NEWS, a member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health, Mathew Opoku Prempeh expressed concern the numerous challenges confronting the scheme would eventually lead to its total collapse.
