MCE acknowledges hard economic times

techimanmceThe Techiman Municipal Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Philip Oppong Amponsah has acknowledged hard times in the country.

“Ghana is being confronted by economic challenges and it is undeniable fact”, he asserted. Hon. Oppong attributed the country’s economic agony to the world economic crisis which he says is beyond the nation.

He adds that appreciation of the cedi is an indication that, President Mahama and his economic management team are putting pragmatic measures in place to revert the country’s deplorable economy to resilient one.

Nevertheless, Hon. Oppong assured that, government is going to honor all statutory payments which were not being honored due to the economic challenges bedeviling  the nation including arrears owed health providers. He again urged all Ghanaians to exercise restraint about the economy.

Apart from this, Hon. Oppong hammered on sanitation issues in the Techiman Municipality. According to him, the assembly has started collecting refuse from unapproved dumping sites and using all government funds allocated to the municipality to collect refuse which does not inure much to the benefit of the municipality.

He has therefore petitioned Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to come to their aid.

It has been a difficulty getting approved dumping sites in the municipality for sometime.

The Municipal Chief Executive who spoke to Techiman based Winners FM, entreatedresidents to dedicate the last Saturday of every month to a clean- up exercise.
