President John Mahama has commissioned six ambassadors including former Youth and Sports Minister, Akua Sena Dansoa and former Information Minister John Tia.
The six are leaving to represent Ghana in their respective countries assigned them, with Akua Sena Dansoa and John Tia going to Germany and Cuba respectively.
According to the President, he carefully selected all ambassadors based on their level of competence.
“You were all carefully chosen for the roles that you are going to play. All of you have had very distinguished careers…and therefore I have no doubt at all that you will discharge your duties diligently and successfully,”
The President expressed the hope that the six will be “worthy ambassadors of our country.”
He told the ambassadors the countries they have been assigned to are countries with very strong ties to Ghana, therefore, they should not solely focus on building Ghana’s relations with the said countries.
He charged them to help “resolve peculiar challenges which exist in some of those countries.”
Former Northern Regional Minister, Mahmoud Khalid, is going to Mali while Anani Okuminyi Demuyakor heads for China.
The rest are Kenneth Kofie Tachie for Libya and Sylvanus Tettey Tamakloe for Zimbabwe.
Mr. Khalid, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, assured the President they will keep his words.
He said he, together with his colleagues, “have been prepared well enough to meet the challenges involved in selling our dear nation to the outside world and wherever we find ourselves.”
Mr. Khalid promised they will do all it takes to improve upon the existing cordial relationships between Ghana and the six countries.
