Konkomba-Dagomba clash: 1 dead, 2 seriously wounded 3 houses burnt

Burnt homes following violent clashes between Dagombas and konkombas

At least one person is confirmed dead and two others injured in violent confrontations between Konkombas and Dagombas at Nakpachie; a farming community in the Yendi.

At least three houses are also reported to have been burnt in the violence.

The melee arose early Thursday morning.

Narrating the incident to the Sagani TV, the Yendi Divisional Crime officer, Supt. Happy Michael Addae said the fight began between two farmers, one Alhassan Ziblim (a Dagomba man) and Neina ( a konkomba man).

Alhassan Ziblim has a backyard maize farm which according to him is being destroyed by pigs.

Earlier Thursday he went to his maize farm well-armed and shot at a pig that entered the farm.

The pig, which belongs to Neina died from the gun shot instantly. This led to a confrontation involving Neina, his two other brothers and Alhasaan in his maize farm.

An attempt to seize the loaded gun from Alhassan by Neina and his brothers  failed as the gun went off; shooting Neina in the thigh.

The two brothers ran back to their community and reported the death of Neina. The Konkombas who did not take the report lightly attacked the Dagombas in community killing the Chief Imam Alhaj Adam Alhassan and wounding several others with two in very critical conditions.

The Dagombas as well as the Konkombas have both deserted the community leaving only their livestock and the joint Police – Military team there to maintain peace and order.
