I Feel Your Pain-Dr Bawumia To Grieving Traders

The former Vice President of the Republic, Dr Mahamodu Bawumia has expressed shock at the extent of destruction of livelihoods of traders at the blue light market arena.

Visiting the burnt site after the recent ravaging dawn inferno, the former Vice President sounded worried about the plight of the traders.

Speaking to the media after inspecting the site, Dr Bawumia said he was touched by the plight of the traders.

“I feel your pain and hurt and after seeing this I believe it is my duty to support you as we also wait for government and other individuals to do same to ensure you bounce back to do your businesses again”, Dr Bawumia stated.

Dr Bawumia promised a cash donation of GHC 200, 000 to the traders.

He also pledged 1000 bags of cement to help in the rebuilding of the site when they get the green light to do so.

The former Vice-President urged the affected traders to keep calm while going through this difficult moments.

Meanwhile, the Vice President has commended the Ghana 🇬🇭 National Fire Service 🔥 for staying throughout the days to ensuring that the flames from the fire were doused completely.

Also visiting the area same day were some prominent paramount Chiefs og Asanteman including the Asantehene’s linguist.

The Chiefs in two VIP buses 🚌 visited the site earlier on Tuesday and were joined by the Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene to inspect the burnt arena.

Speaking to the media later, Baffuor Kantankrankyie, the Asantehene’s linguist sympathised with the affected traders and took the opportunity to commend the efforts of the Ghana National Fire Service in dousing the flames.

The linguist however asked city authorities to as a matter of urgency put in place measures to create access routes in the area when it is rebuilt so that emergency service providers can have room to attend to same when the need arises.
