High School Crush: YFM’s new found romance with Senior High Schools in Ashanti

Ghana Entertainment News-YFM Kumasi is combining health, motivation and entertainment is a rather bizarre  way to influence the youth positively.

Their new event; YFM High School Crush targets Senior High Schools within the Ashanti region.

Presenters of the youth-oriented station hold seminars to motivate the students and provide them with career guidance. Whilst at it, massive health screening exercises go on for a variety of conditions including Hepatitis B, Typhoid, Body Mass Index among others. The day is crowned with a variety show hosted by DJs and MCs of YFM.

The first school to benefit from this exciting package is Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School where the students are yet to recover from the excitement of the event that occurred on their campus from 6am till evening on the 29th September, 2018.

The event started at 6am with an Aerobic exercise session by TheoPhit Consult followed by the health screening session organized by SummerField Medical Centre which screened over two thousand students and provided medical counseling to them.

The Motivational session started in the afternoon with Kwame Poku “Scientific” ( Radio Presenter and motivational speaker), Ernest Opoku (Events and Talent development Consultant), Hayford Quaye ( Administrator, Y FM), Paa Yaw Arkoh-Koomson (Business Head, Alabar Branch-Access Bank) and SummerField Medical Centre.

As if that was not enough, Y FM DJs; DJ Lexes and DJ Bongo took over the turntables and together with Y Pee and the Pee Nation delivered electrifying performances to excite the students. Koo Sebor, the MC for the evening was also on point with his delivery.

Asked what inspired such an event, Head of Events at YFM Kumasi; Ernest Opoku explained to Bernard Buachi of ghanagong.com that his outfit wants to give back to society and “what a better way to do this than to provide students with good health and counsel within a context of fun”.

He hinted that his outfit is on the hunt for the next school and encouraged students to listen to their programs whenever they are home for quality content.

He used the opportunity to express gratitude to various offices that made the event possible including the Ghana Education Service, Ashanti Regional SRC Administration of Osei Kyeretwie School most especially Mr Samuel Kwaku Sonka, the School Counselor and chairman for the entertainment council for making the first edition a success.
