Go the extra mile to alleviate the stress of patients-Health workers trained

Health workers are being advised to go the extra mile to alleviate the stress of their clients.

This advice was given when EM Consult engaged some Health workers on Customer Care at the Miklin Hotel in Kumasi.

It was revealed that some nurses and other health workers actually aggravate the problems of their clients when they visit the hospital through their speech and attitudes towards them.

CEO of EM Consult; Emmanuel Oteng Tuffour however says health workers, beside their core functions should train themselves to be nice to clients who visit their facilities.

“Health workers beside their core duties should make it a point to serve patients in a manner that makes them happy and relieves them of their stress” he said.

He encouraged health facilities to ensure that patients’ rights are clearly published at their premises and also urged clients to take time to read and understand these rights and responsibilities to engender harmony.

Mr. Tuffour observed in an interaction with rawgist.com’s Joana Somiah that there is a general Customer care problem across various industries countrywide. For this reason, EM consult will not limit its operations only to the health sector but extend it to banking and other sectors of the economy.

He also mentioned that EM Consult’s engagement with health facilities is purely a private initiative aimed at augmenting the efforts of government and other entities to make healthcare in Ghana better. The programme is expected to be held every six months to refresh health practitioners on the importance of excellent customer care.
