Ghana’s underdevelopment due to lack of mentorship-PDF Ghana CEO

mentorshipThe Chief Executive Officer of the Purpose Discovery Foundation(PDF-GHANA), in Kumasi is calling for the building of interpersonal relationships in which more knowledgeable and experienced persons would contribute to the informal transmission of knowledge, social capital and psychological support which will be relevant to work, career and professional development. Mr. Collins Bonsu says the lack of effective mentorship in society has resulted in the growing immorality, unemployment and perpetration of social vices by all Ghanaians.

He said on Asankrangwa based Royal FM that Ghana’s underdevelopment is due to “uncontrolled corruption and the application of worldly tenets and standards. “Instead of working to serve humanity under divine and professional guidance and counseling, many Ghanaians have allowed political sentiments and greed to engulf them hence the increasing corruption in all facets of nation building”, Collins Bonsu pointed out.

The life coach who is deeply passionate about youth mentoring and church building also blamed some men of God who have become “Jacks of all trade” and are carrying out all forms of counseling instead of referring some cases to skilled and professional life coaches to help solve societal problems brought before them. “He who downplays the important role of mentorship in the manpower development for industrial, family, church growth and economic management is not wishing the country well”, Collins Bonsu noted and called for prompt attention to the subject of mentorship in the national educational curriculum.

Contributing to the discussion, Reverend Jamel Amponsah Baah, Head Pastor of the Lighthouse Chaple International at Asankrangwa urged religious leaders to include mentorship and other training programs in their sermons. He says such a move will develop the youth for effective evangelism.

  1. For the most part I agree with your comments, especially those about corruption. Unfortunately Ghana is doomed unless righteousness replaces the endemic lies, cheating and stealing.

Why is it that the country is overwhelmed with churches, pastors, profits, evangelists and other so called men and women of God yet it is drowning in unrighteousness?

May I suggest that readers read the entire chapter of Deuteronomy 28 and start following God’s commandments. Until this happens all the mentors in the world will come to naught!
