18 elected assembly members and government appointees in the Asokwa Municipal Assembly Wednesday afternoon voted to endorse the candidature of Elliot Fosu Barnor as Presiding Member (PM) for the famous Municipality.

Garnering 18 votes out of the 18 valid votes cast at the end of the voting process supervised by the  Electoral Commission of Ghana, the Kuwait-Oti-Aprabo member secured a 100% endorsement.

Hon Elliot Fosu Barnor who stood as a sole candidate is the elected assembly member for the Kuwait Oti-Aprabo electoral area, a feat he has achieved for a third time.

Before today’s meeting four others had failed to produce a PM as the aspirants failed to garner the required two-thirds majority.

ACCEPTANCE:
Overwhelmed by the endorsement, Hon Elliot thanked the assembly members for the honor done him.

He noted that the decision to make him PM for the second time meant Asokwa is determined to chart the path of progress.

The position of PM, he noted is to drive discussions for the development of the Municipality.

Hon Elliot popularly known as “Pulele” noted that he can do nothing without the support of both elected and government appointees as well as the chiefs and people of Asokwa.

MCE:
Speaking succinctly at the venue, Chief Akwannuasa Gyimah, MCE for Asokwa commended the assembly members for demonstrating selfless attitude in endorsing one of their own.

The election of a PM, he noted is a step that shows the readiness of the Municipality to chart its development agenda for this year and beyond.

CHIEF:
Chief of Kaase, Nana Adu Mensah who spoke on behalf of the Chiefs and Queen mothers in the Municipality was grateful to the assembly members for demonstrating good faith.

He noted that the decision to rally behind the Kuwait-Oti-Aprabo assembly member as PM means they are determined to seek for development for Asokwa.

ASSEMBLY MEMBERS:
Nana Yaw Wiredu, Ahensan Estate Assembly member expressed happiness at the outcome of the meeting.

He commended all stakeholders in Asokwa for showing interest in the development of area.

He on behalf of his colleague assembly members pledged to work with a clean heart and mind for the progress of the Municipality.
