Confirmed: Yakubu Moro quits Ghana Football

yakubu-moroThe CEO of Berekum Arsenals; Alhaji Yakubu Moro has finally left Ghana football once and for all.

This breath taken decision was arrived at, after the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association failed to quash a stay of execution tendered in by Techiman City on their demotion to division two by the Ethics Committee.

Let’s make a quick retrospective analysis into the said issue prior to the Appeals Committee’s decision. The whole case was about Techiman City offering bribe to Wa African United for a match of convenience to be played. The said game took place in GN Bank division one match day 22 at the Damongo Park where supporters caused an abrupt end of the game. Subsequently, the matter was herd by the Ethics Committee of the Ghana Football Association where they pronounced Techiman City guilty of the bribery allegation.

Techiman City were however, sent to the second tier of Ghana’s league as their punishment. Immediately, the decision was appealed against by Techiman City which led to the pronouncement that has provoked this indisputable football administrator to call it quits as far as Ghana football is concerned.

Speaking on a Kumasi-based Angel fm, Mr. Yakubu lamented that football in Ghana is unattractive because of lack of vision, indecision and poor administration on the part of the Ghana Football Association. “I said, if they overturn this decision, I will quit. Why should they overturn this decision? These people (GFA) are incompetent. I have stopped football administration in Ghana because it is not attractive”, he said.

He again, cautioned that if things continue this way, Ghana football will have no future and will collapse in three years’ time.

It should be noted that this indefatigable football administrator in 2011, threatened to disassociate himself from Ghana Football due to similar circumstances. Five years on, he has finally bowed out.

So the question is, where lies the future of Ghana football? If things continue this way, then we are heading towards oblivion.
