Businessman sues IGP, AG et al over “erectile dysfunction”

justiceThe manager of Union Oil Limited branch in Tuobodom-Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region has severally and jointly sued a Police Officer assigned to guard the National Investment Bank in the town, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the  Attorney General (A-G),  another security officer at the National Investment Bank (NIB) Techiman branch,as well as the National Investment Bank.

Ansah Ankomah, (Esq), Lawyer for Prince Paul Agyeman is claiming his “client’s erectile dysfunction is due to actions of the Techiman Police Command”.

The plantiff in a writ filed at the Techiman Circuit Court is demanding GHc 300,000 from the respondents as compensation.

Documents obtained from the court registry by this reporter show on November 16, 2012 Prince Paul Agyeman went to the NIB to deposit some money. In the course of checking the money with counting machine, the teller detected a fake GHc 20.00 note.

The fake note was given back to the manager for confirmation and replacement.

Prince Agyeman tore the fake notes into pieces and  ended up slapping the police officer on duty resisting arrest.

Reinforcement from the Municipal Police Command was called to apprehend the suspect.

The suspect was put before court for possessing fake currency, assaulting a public officer and resisting arrest. He pleaded guilty to the first count of possessing fake currency and was convicted and fined 50 penalty Units in default of which he would spend 6 months in jail.

The court presided over by His Honour Daniel Obeng adjouned to November 26, 2014 for hearing of the other counts.
