Atwima Mponua Assembly supports physically disabled with start-up equipment

Ghana News-Atwima Mponua District Assembly in the Ashanti as part of the disability share of the Common fund has acquired start-up equipment to about seventy five (75) persons living with disabilities in the district.

William Darko, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, at a durbar at Nyinahin the district capital, said the gesture was to help empower the about seventy five (75) people living  with disabilities improve their standards of living.

Some of the items includes deep-freezers, Fufu pounding machines, wheel chair, sewing machines and crutches worth GHC100,000.

He commended the government of  H.E.President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo for increasing the disability fund.

He disclosed that, the government is always committed and would continue to support persons living with disabilities to ensure they earn a meaningful living instead of begging on the roadsides.

Mr. Adjei Boateng, the district Chairman of the Physically Disabled Association, expressed their profound gratitude to government through the Assembly for the kind gesture.

He said the equipment would go a long way to ensure that most of them become productive and contribute their quota to the development of the country.

He pleaded with the Assembly not to make the gesture a nine-day wonder but extend the initiative to benefit the majority of their membership.
