Asokore Mampong gets District Court

Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Joseph Yammin has revealed government’s commitment to strengthening justice delivery in yammin-courtthe country.

He was speaking during the inauguration of the Asokore Mampong District law court.

The Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister emphasized the John Mahama led government’s seriousness at solving challenges such as few, poorly distributed and under resourced courts , payment of high filing fees at the courts, delays in filing cases, and state attorneys/police prosecutors abusing legal procedures in the prosecution of cases.

“A significant majority of Ghana’s population lives outside the protection of the law, with poverty and lack of transportation being a reason and consequence of their lack of effective legal rights.  It is for this reason that Chapter 5 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana was made to guarantee fundamental human rights and access to justice to all Ghanaians. This accessibility thrives on an effective and fully-functional court system that is accessible to all.”

Hon. Joseph Yammin also praised the chief of Asokore Mampong, Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah greatly for his activism in developmental matters especially within his traditional area, adding that the chief’s enthusiasm had come to the attention of the Regional Coordinating Council.

Also in attendance at the inauguration ceremony was MP for Asawase Hon. Muntaka Muhammed, Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Kofi Boakye as well as a representative of the Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Boon.
