Adansi Asokwa constituency to taste NPP parliamentary primaries for the first time in history

The Ashanti regional vetting committee for the first time has given room for an open contest in the Adansi Asokwa constituency.

Since democracy came into being, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has never conducted Internal Parliamentary Primaries in the said constituency.

But what triggered the party to open nomination for the first time, came as surprise to many and the incumbent MP himself Mr. Kwabena Tahiri Hammond.

Intelligence has it that, the Incumbent member of parliament for the area risk losing the 2020 Parliamentary elections, should the party allow him to go unopposed, as has always been norm. This informed the decision of the party to open nomination for the first time.

After the NPP vetting committee verdict,  the committee cleared two applicants to compete for the slot come 25th April 2020.

They include the incumbent MP Mr. K.T Hammond and one Sammy Binfo Darkwa, a former NUGS President. Mr. K.T Hammond, is currently serving his 5 fifth term in office as a member of parliament for that constituency.

Mr. Binfo was excited upon seeing his name among the certified aspirants and he is optimistic of unseating the incumbent member of parliament.

This is his first major political contest in our body politics and poses a potential threat to the sitting MP .
