The Vice-President, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has remarkably endorsed the candidature of the Ashanti Regional Minister, John Alexander Ackon and the Chief Executive for the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi (Zuba) as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidates for the Obuasi East and West respectively.
Speaking at an extravagant campaign launch at the black park last Saturday in Obuasi, Mr Amissah-Arthur stressed the two candidates were the most credible persons the NDC could ever present to wrestle the two seats the party is confident of snatching from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to him, not only are the two mature for the positions they are seeking to occupy but had also demonstrated bouts of hard work and finesse in the current positions they held.
He, therefore, urged the constituents to vote massively for the two in their respective constituencies so as to ensure they continue in the good work they had begun.
The Vice-President insisted the NDC had a good vision for the Obuasi Municipality and were committed to redeveloping the area to befit its status as the largest mining town in West-Africa.
According to him, Government was currently engaging with Anglo-Gold Ashanti (AGA), managers of the Obuasi Mine to restructure it to continue to offer more employment opportunities for the youth in the area and others from elsewhere.
He indicated the roads in the area would soon see astronomical amounts of refurbishment to ensure easy access to every arena of the town.
The Veep promised continued investments into the artisanal industry in the town and maintained the two candidates having worked in the area for long had presented to government a road map to ensure the rapid development of the Obuasi town.
Touting his earlier achievements as the former MCE for the area, Mr John Alexander Ackon promised to lead a crusade to ensure the next NDC government completed all road and infrastructural projects it had started in his constituency.
He stressed more collaboration between the government and the youth to ensure more employment avenues were created to offer better living standards for residents.
Mr Richard Ofori Agyemang-Boadi (Zuba), Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi noted the commitment of the NDC government to redevelop the Obuasi town to become a first class community.
According to him, the construction of the artisanal enclave in the town, the construction of a district magistrate court and many others were testament that the government is committed to bringing development in the town.
