Of course, Glastonbury wasn’t the only show in town this weekend.

London’s annual Pride carnival took place on Saturday (June 28th) accompanied by all manner of official and unofficial events.

Sir Elton John lent his support, with the iconic performer giving a new interview in which he renews his support for gay marriage.

Speaking on Sky News’ Murnaghan programme, the songwriter said: “The church hierarchy, the traditionalists, might be up in arms about it but times have changed.”
“If Jesus Christ was alive today, I cannot see him, as the Christian person that he was and the great person that he was, saying this could not happen” Elton John continued. “He was all about love and compassion and forgiveness and trying to bring people together and that is what the church should be about.”
Sir Elton John was vocal in his appreciation of the efforts made by some senior church figures, stating that the archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, was “doing a good job” and Pope Francis was “wonderful”.
Recently performing in Russia, the singer spoke of his determination to introduce Vladimir Putin to members of the gay community: “It’s no good putting up a wall and saying I’m not talking to these people; the only way things get solved is by talking to people.”

Sir Elton John became guest editor of Clash Magazine for a special one off issue earlier this year.
