Some supporters of the NPP stormed Chorkor Tuesday to foil a press briefing which they believed was going to be an avenue to attack the party’s flagbearer; Nana Akufo Addo over the suspension of the party’s chairman; Paul Afoko.
The briefing was to be addressed by Ato Quarshie, a staunch NPP member.
Gunshots were heard at the venue, according to Accra-based Joy FM.
Eye witnesses say the conference venue was scattered as chairs and other items got destroyed by the youth.
The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Awentami Afoko, was suspended from the position indefinitely in October, 2015 after the National Executive Committee Unanimously endorsed the recommendation of the National Disciplinary Committee.
Mr. Afoko was accused of misconduct and other charges including breaches of the party’s constitution.
