Deputy Ashanti regional minister, Joseph Yammin says his outfit is liaising with the Ashanti police to combat illegal mining in the region.
He says “mining is not an issue but the mode of operation is”, therefore as one of the people who is strongly against illegal mining, he is employing the help of the police to fight such menace.
He expressed worry about the bad image the Chinese residents in the Ashanti region are creating for their home country in Ghana.
The Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister was also sad about the impact illegal mining activities by the Chinese has had on the environment.
Joseph Yammin however expressed government’s readiness to collaborate with police to ensure mining is done legally.
