Use your strengths wisely-Dr. Sarpong urges youth

samuel_sarpong8Dr Samuel Sarpong, the National Democratic Congress(NDC) aspiring parliamentary candidate for the Nhyiaeso constituency has urged the youth to use their physical strengths in useful ventures rather than the resort to violent acts.

As the upcoming elections drew closer, Dr Sarpong said some political actors may seek their services to foment trouble but cautioned that none of them falls for that cheap way of doing politics.

Addressing some youth drawn from  the nine electoral areas in the constituency during last week’s Eid Holiday football gala, Dr Sarpong called on the youth to concentrate their minds and strengths on the jobs they were currently doing.

This, he mentioned would enable them parry off the enticements that come from feeble minded political actors who seek the youth for unholy assignments.

Dr Sarpong, who doubles as the Managing Director for the State Housing Company Limited(SCHL) pledged his commitment to conductsamuel_sarpong9 a clean campaign ahead of the upcoming polls.

According to him,’ party politics was only a competition of ideas by different groups or actors’, adding ‘it was unthinkable to use violence to ensuring people buy into one’s idea or philosophy’.

”For someone like me the motivation of seeking to be a Member of Parliament was to use my unique skills to lobby for projects and development for my constituents’, the former Kumasi Mayor stressed.

He added, ‘i am of the strong conviction that i can best help to galvanize the strengths and talents of the Nhyiaeso youth for something better and purposeful for our people”.

Flanked by his constituency chairman, Ernest Afayam, Dr Sarpong donated sets of football jerseys, footballs and an undisclosed amount of cash to the respective teams from the constituency.

Areas such as Sokoban, Dakodwom, Fankyenebra, Pataase, Santase , Adiebeba  and others presented football teams to participate in the gala.

Christened the ‘Nkabomu’ gala, the Santase team won the competition taking home a nice trophy, footballs and unspecified amount of money.

Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper after the presentation of prizes, the constituency Chairman urged the winners and losers to let the unity that existed during the games continue to ensure together they build a prosperous constituency in Nhyaieso.
