A suspected Ebola patient who was quarantined at the University Hospital of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Wednesday has tested negative for the virus.
The suspect, a man from Sierra Leone, who had reported at the hospital in the late hours of Tuesday, December 2, 2014 to visit his wife at the Osei Tutu II Medical Complex of the hospital reportedly, recorded extremely high temperature.
A staff of the hospital that prefers to remain anonymous indicated that the man later passed on bloody stool that raised an alarm. The Medical Doctor on duty ordered the man and all personnel who had come into contact with the man to be quarantined.
The man is believed to have arrived in the country from Sierra Leon about 4 days ago because the wife had been admitted at the University Hospital for an unrelated medical condition.
A blood sample of the patient was later sent to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) for confirmation.
