Ghana’s Second lady; Samira Bawumia inspects market at Atonsu-Agogo

Samira Bawumia, wife of the Vice-President last Saturday paid a visit to traders of the newly constructed Atonsu-Agogo market.

Being the first time of visiting the market arena, the second lady seemed elated during the tour of the market arena which has spaces for about 1000 people.

Shaking hands with the ecstatic traders as well as sellers in their sheds and stalls, Hajia Samira expressed delight at the opportunity to see the new edifice for herself.

Speaking briefly at a ceremony organized for her by the Ashanti Regional Women’s wing as well as the Asokwa Municipal Assembly with support from the Communications Wing of Asokwa NPP, Mrs Bawumia thanked the people of Asokwa for keeping faith in the NPP and commended the traders for spoiling her with foodstuffs.

‘’I am excited to be here in Asokwa and seeing the kind of development happening around this place including this beautiful market arena I can only ask you to keep faith with the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government for more development projects’’, the wife of the VEEP noted.

She asked for more support for the NPP as the party through its leader, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo work to bring on stream more employment avenues through some of the projects it has luanched.

The NPP government, the second lady intimated is committed to ensuring that employment opportunities are created for the teeming youth of the country.

Being the future leaders, Mrs Bawumia said the government wants to develop the human resource potentials of the country so as to cause the development it hopes to see.

All the social interventions programs including the free senior high school education policy the NPP is implementing, Mrs Bawumia stated were projects that will ensure a turn-around of the country’s economy in no time.

‘’We in the NPP have every confidence in this Nana Addo government that it will fulfill all the promises it made to the good people of the country before 2020’’, Mrs Bawumia intimated.

In his welcome address, Chief Executive for the Asokwa Municipal Assembly, Mr Akwannuasa Gyimah noted his happiness about the construction of the Atonsu-Agogo market.

The market, he stated has given traders and sellers opportunity to display their wares at more spacious and serene environment.

Issues of sanitation, the MCE reiterated will be better dealt with in the arena than previously since supervision of activities at the arena can best be carried out now.

He, however, asked the traders to keep the stalls and sheds clean to avoid the breeding of mosquitoes in the market arena.

‘’We are happy to have you visiting us at Asokwa and for you to take time to tour this Agogo market speaks of your commitment to the wellbeing of our people especially our women since they form the large chunk of traders in this arena’’, Chief Akwannuasa stated.
