Recruitment scam hits Ghana’s National Security

soldiersA group of ex-national security operatives has been busted by the Ghana Police Service over their alleged involvement in a recruitment scam for the national security.

The Ghana Police has confirmed it has rounded up the syndicate made up of 13 people which took between Gh¢50 and Gh¢150 as fees from their unsuspecting victims in Accra.

About 325 Ghanaians feel victim to the scam, the Greater Accra regional spokesperson of the police ASP Afia Tenge revealed.

The group was busted during one of their training sessions with the recruits at Taifa, a suburb of Accra.

“On December 5, 2015 at about 7.30am the police received information that a group of people were recruiting for the national security at Taifa Burkina. The police proceeded to the scene at St. Dominic Catholic Park and met about 325 people undergoing physical training for the national security,” ASP Tenge told Accra-based Citi FM.

“But upon preliminary investigations show the suspects Godson Kwame Duhu, a former national security operative, and also a self-styled national coordinator of unregistered Afrigan Fidel Suricom collected between Gh¢50 and Gh¢150 each from some of the victims under the pretext of enlisting them into the security services.”
