We are paying 1D1F Coordinator for nothing-Brogya Genfi

Aspiring NDC National youth Organizer; Brogya Genfi says the Nana Akufo Addo-led government is paying the National 1D1F Coordinator; Gifty Ohene-Konadu for nothing.

“Whatever is being spent on her and the secretariat is a waste on the public purse”, he tells rawgist.com in an interview.

Mr. Genfi is incensed because the criteria for qualification for the one District, one factory policy as outlined on their website does not make sense to him.

“I visited their website 1d1fghana.org and found out the eligibility criteria. It was amazing. Some of the requirements are that applicant should be able to:

-Prove arrangement guarantee raw material supply

-Prove he/she has secured/securing land and platform for factory

-Provide feasible project plan (sweat equity)

-Provide 15% of CAPEX required for factory set up and has a good credit rating to access working capital support

-An experienced team with required skills to manage capital support

-Provide a solid succession plan”.

“My question is; Which businessman, having all these will not go for a loan but will wait for government?”. “These persons with all these qualities are business people already doing their businesses. Even the litigation-free land is a collateral with which a bank loan could be accessed, so why would they wait for government?”, he queried.

He says he now understands why the President went to cut the sod for one of such factories and then left the place to become bushy.

“They should just scrap that office”, he admonished.

The project was one of the major campaign promises of the New Patriotic Party ahead of December’s general election that brought them to power and was launched in August, 2017 at a ceremony held in Ekumfi in the Central Region during which the President cut the sod for the construction of the first factory under the programme; The Ekumfi Fruits and Juices Limited.

The prime objective of the project according to the National Coordinator is to promote industrial development across the country, with the aim of creating jobs and discouraging rural-urban migration.

Brogya Genfi however believes the programme is going nowhere and is a waste of taxpayers’ money.
