“NDC youth should expose adamant OMCs”-Brogya Genfi

armaniThe Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer of the NDC, Brogya Genfi has warned all Oil Marketing Companies who have refused to reduce their retail prices of petroleum products to have a change of mind.

He believes their action is thwarting the efforts of government to make life easier for the citizenry.

In a Press Statement issued Sunday,December 4th, 2015, Brogya Genfi lamented many Oil Marketing Companies took advantage of the fact that the announcement did not receive the needed publicity due to the date it was issued.

The NDC Youth Organizer wants all youth especially NDC youth to be bold to expose such OMCs who have refused to adjust their pumps to reflect the reduction.

“We take this opportunity to commend our Youth Organizer for Manso Nkwanta Constituency Mr. Kamal Abdulai who exhibited Courageous Nationalistic and Patriotic attitude by exposing an OMC operating from Trede to the Police.

According to the statment, the OMC in question operating from Trede in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of Ashanti had refused to adjust their machines as at the afternoon of Friday, 2nd January, 2015 until the NDC Youth Organizer reported to the police.

“There have been two (2) similar reported cases to the Police in the Savulugu/Nantong District of the Northern Region. Currently, the retail price of petrol is three cedis five pesewas (GHC3.05) per litre while diesel should sell at two cedis ninety-two pesewas (GHC2.92) per litre. ”

PRESS STATEMENT
THE REFUSAL OF SOME OIL MARKETING COMPANIES TO ADJUST THEIR PUMP MACHINES TO REFLECT THE 10% REDUCTION OF PRICES OF PETROLEUM PRODUCTS BY GOVERNMENT

As government puts in extra effort to better the lives of Ghanaians by reducing the retail prices of petroleum products by 10%, some oil marketing companies are by their actions thwarting the efforts of government.

The price reduction occurred on Wednesday, 31/12/2014 the last day of the year and as such was not accorded the publicity it craved.

It has come to our attention that whiles some Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) adhered to the directive from the National Petroleum Authority (NPA); others have remained adamant and have refused to adjust their pump machines to reflect the new retail prices.

We are by this statement calling on all Ghanaian Youth especially members of the National Democratic Congress Youth Wing in Ashanti to act as citizen vigilantes to expose any OMC perpetuating such fraud by reporting them to the Police.

We take this opportunity to commend our Youth Organizer for Manso Nkwanta Constituency Mr. Kamal Abdulai who exhibited Courageous Nationalistic and Patriotic attitude by exposing an OMC operating from Trede to the Police.

The OMC in question operating from Trede in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of Ashanti had refused to adjust their machines as at the afternoon of Friday, 2nd January, 2015 until our Youth Organizer reported to the police.

There have been two (2) similar reported cases to the Police in the Savulugu/Nantong District of the Northern Region. Currently, the retail price of petrol is three cedis five pesewas (GHC3.05) per litre while diesel should sell at two cedis ninety-two pesewas (GHC2.92) per litre.

The Ashanti Regional Youth Wing wishes to express our appreciation to the government for such a significant reduction in the retail prices of fuel products.

Thank you
Brogya Genfi
(Regional Youth Organizer)
