Mosquito: George Boateng bought “draft” forms

asiedu-nketiaIt has emerged that officials of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) essentially sold draft presidential nomination forms to much-talked about George Boateng.

The general secretary of the party Johnson Asiedu Nketia, popularly known as General Mosquito, confirmed Boateng has been hoodwinked by “the staff of this head office” who “managed to get one of the drafts which is in black and white and then sold it to somebody who claims to be a presidential candidate.”

Nketia is on record to have said Boateng, whose key message is to legalise cannabis, is mentally deranged and beyond “satisfying the party’s constitution” has to “satisfy the national constitution of being of sound mind.”

“We have just got the final documents you were going to use for the presidential nominations… so it was practically impossible for anybody to purport to have picked forms from here,” Nketia told a gathering at the party’s headquarters when vice president Kwesi Amissah-Arthur went to pick forms on behalf of his boss President John Mahama.

“What I later came to see was that the staff of this head office managed to get one of the drafts which is in black and white and then sold it to somebody who claims to be a presidential candidate. The accountant has no means of doing the minimum checks about the background of the person who has picked the forms.

“Beyond satisfying our party’s constitution any candidate that we select has to satisfy the national constitution… any person who will be admitted to file as a presidential candidate must be of sound mind,” General Mosquito stressed in response to Boateng, who has been on various media platforms to challenge the party’s ostensible move to ruin his presidential ambitions.

Nketia has served notice some officials of the party at the headquarters have been “banished” over their involvement in the Boateng saga.

The party has set November 7 for its parliamentary and presidential primaries throughout Ghana.
