The Director General in charge of animal production at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture has appealed to investors to take advantage of the opportunities in livestock production to help develop the industry.
Livestock farmers across the region took part in a three-day exhibition to showcase their animals and products in a bid to boost the industry.
The Ashanti Livestock Show took place in Kumasi, at the Cultural Centre. On display at the three day fair were several animals including goats, pigs, rabbits, sheep and cattle.
Organizers say the exhibition also served as a platform to highlight the challenges facing the livestock and poultry industry in the Ashanti region.
It forms part of the ministry’s efforts to boost consumption of made in Ghana products to support the local industry.
Mr Kwamina Arkoful commended stakeholders and said the initiative if sustained will go a long way to develop livestock production across the country
