John Essien wins best student journalist in KNUST

Broadcast Journalist, John Essien, has emerged as the Best Student Journalist for the year 2018 at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

The prolific student journalist was awarded by the KNUST chapter of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS-KNUST) in April 2018 for his hard work towards instilling professionalism in campus journalism in the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Known for his amazing voice on radio and results-oriented reports on several issues, John Essien has served as the Deputy News Editor at the official radio station of KNUST, Focus 94.3FM.

He is the host of Focus FM’s flagship talk-shows, TEKNOKRAT, Community Watch, Election360 among other talk shows.

Aside from his roles as a campus journalist, John Essien doubles as the Ashanti Regional Correspondent for Class 91.3 FM in Accra.

He has covered a number of events and reported on several happenings in the Ashanti Region.

He has also received several accolades from students and lecturers for his rigour and accuracy in regularly finding new stories and reporting them.
