COMMITMENT:
Mr Ackon stressed the commitment of government to the rule of law, adding every support would be extended to the judiciary to enable it prosecute its mandate.

A commitment to justice, he maintained motivates much of what people do on daily basis, noting people’s positive and real ideas about justice underpinned government’s legitimacy.

According to him, law was one place justice and power meet and the law court becomes an indispensable hub where justice is sought for.

MCE:
On his part, Richard Ofori Agyemang-Boadi, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi underscored the importance of having a magistrate, circuit and High Court in Obuasi.

This, he stressed would enable the people in the populous town and its adjoining communities have access to justice in the law court.

The MCE commended the Regional Minister for dreaming about the project during his tenure as MCE for Obuasi and expressed happiness the Assembly had been able to construct the complex to serve the entire Bekwai, Obuasi, Jacobu and adjoining towns.

CHIEF JUSTICE:
His Lordship Sir Justice Dennis Agyei, a Court of Appeal Judge who conveyed the Chief Justice’s thoughts, cautioned against the settlement of rape, robbery and defilement cases out of the conventional court.

He stressed no one had the capacity apart from the court to prescribe the appropriate sanction to people arrested or caught in perpetrating such crimes.

Justice Agyei also cautioned the public from using monetary and other means to bribe court workers or judges for legal favors.
He stated anyone found to be engaging in that attitude would be arrested and prosecuted with the full powers accorded to the courts.
