Ghanaian family wants gov’t to help in returning their son held by Islamic State safely

ghanaian-kidnapped-by-isisThe family of Kofi Frimpong Sekyere who was reported to be held hostage by Militants of the Islamic State in Libya is calling on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government of Ghana to help bring back their son.

The young man who is about 24 years old is a native of Techiman in the brong Ahafo Region of Ghana.

According to the family spokesman, Mr. John Appiah, they were alerted that their son was moving from Tripoli to Bengazi when the Militants stop them at Sirte and a Bible was found on him.

The Militants therefore held him hostage and allowed the Taxi cab driver to return.

John Appiah is appealing to the Foreign Affairs Ministry to as a matter of urgency come to their aide.He said the family does not know whether their son is still alive or dead.

He said the phone number of their son goes through anytime it is called but nobody answers the call.

He said the story was earlier reported by Peacefmonline.com on July, 20th 2015 but up to date nothing positive has come out of it.

He is also appealing to Ghanaians home and abroad to help in making sure the young man is found alive and brought back home
