Central East Police Secure 25-Year Robbery Conviction

Kasoa–The Central East Regional Police Command has successfully secured a conviction in a recent robbery case involving 20-year-old Mohammed Bello.

According to the police, Bello and four other accomplices—currently at large—carried out a violent robbery on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at around 12:30 a.m. near Dabanyin, close to Gomoa Buduatta Junction along the Kasoa-Winneba road. The gang reportedly attacked drivers and passengers, making away with mobile phones and an unspecified amount of money.

Swift action by the police led to the arrest of Mohammed Bello within the area as he attempted to flee the scene. A search on him yielded GH₵3,740 in cash, two Samsung smartphones, a Tecno Spark 20, an Itel keypad phone, an Itel power bank, a lady’s purse, five sticks of cigarettes, a wristwatch, a headset, a mobile phone charger head, and a pair of sandals later identified by one of the victims.

Following a detailed investigation, Bello was arraigned before the Ofaakor Circuit Court on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. He pleaded guilty to the charge of robbery and was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment with hard labour.

The Central East Regional Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and security, assuring the public that efforts are underway to arrest the remaining suspects and bring them to justice.
