The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwadaso Municipal Assembly Hon Richmond Agyenim Boateng has stated categorically that the assembly has no intention of evacuating Kwadaso Onion Market traders from their current place.
The leadership of Kwadaso Onion Market on Monday September 5, 2020 embarked on demonstration following rumours about the assembly’s decision to evacuate them to pave way for the construction of Kwadaso municipal court.
The leadership of the traders during the demonstration appealed to authorities of Kwadaso Municipal Assembly to rescind their decision of evacuating them.
Meanwhile the MCE for Kwadaso in an interview with Pure FM’s Osei Kwadwo charged the traders to remain calm saying the assembly has no intention of evacuating them.
According to the MCE, “though there should be a construction of court in Kwadaso by the assembly no trader will be affected. We have no intention of evacuating the traders”.
“I was surprised when I heard that the traders are demonstrating and I don’t know who gave them false information that the assembly will evacuate them from their place. The construction of the court has been put on hold but I can boldly say that we will not evacuate the traders” MCE explained
MCE Hon Richmond Agyenim Boateng added that “even the site for the construction of the court is likely to be moved from the site.
“The assembly has put proper measures in place to modernize Kwadaso Online Market. They should not give room for rumours. They should do their business but we are not going to evacuate them”
Calm has been restored after series of meetings between the leadership of traders, Kwadwo MCE Hon Richmond Agyenim Boateng and former presiding member of the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly Hon Kwame Kwakye.
