Bluelight Traders Commend “Napo” For Showing Compassion
The leadership and members of the United Traders Association (UTA) at the Bluelight Market which recently got burnt have praised former Vice presidential candidate of the NPP, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh for visiting to commiserate with them.
Speaking to the media after inspecting the burnt arena with the former Manhyia South MP, Mr. Bobie Ansah, Chairman of UTA said the Association was happy to have the NPP bigwig visit them to commiserate and offer advice and encouragement to them even as they plan their reconstruction work.
He said they knew Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh had travelled and was expecting him upon his return.
“We are happy that Dr. Napo has found time to visit us, inspect the place with us and in addition given us money and cement to support the reconstruction efforts”, the Chairman stated.

In his address to the traders and the public, Dr. Napo said he had seen the devastation on the internet but was out of the country at the time.
Upon return, he stated that he decided to visit the arena together with both the Subin and Manhyia South MPs to see things for himself.
He described the devastation as a heavy blow to traders who have lost items and livelihoods but promised them 500 bags of cement and a cash amount of GhC50, 000 with an appeal to the Manhyia South MP to work on a documentation to access some GHc100, 000 that is in the Common Fund Account of the KMA so it could be used to further assist the traders.
“In my own small way I give to you GHC50, 000 as well as 500 bags of cement and I appeal to my MP to work on documentation to access some GHc 100, 000 in the Common Fund account at the KMA for Manhyia South so that same could be used to further assist my troubled traders”, Dr Napo noted.
Meanwhile, Lawyer Baffuor Awuah, the Manhyia South MP also promised an additional 100 bags of cement for the reconstruction work.
Admonition:
Dr Napo however admonished the traders not to be in hurry to do things their own way.
He noted that the land they traded on belonged to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, adding he was sure upon his return he would make clear his plans for the people and the area.
The former Vice-Presidential candidate of the NPP called for unity amongst the traders so that they could fight for what they deserved with a common voice.
Dr Napo also appealed to the NDC government to be swift with concrete support to the traders so that they could be assuaged of their plight.
